Submitting your manuscript to a publisher.

When submitting a manuscript to a publisher make sure it matches what they are selling by reading a few excerpts of their listings on their website. Then check the date it was published. If it is recent, your manuscript may be rejected because it will compete with that production they have  placed their budget to promote . Also ,select one genre for your submission in your query to the editor. Make sure you follow the publisher's guidelines for submitting. Do a close edit for spelling errors, grammar problems, and errors in facts such as dates of events. If there are glaring errors, your work will not be accepted. Publishers pay their in-house editors $150 an hour, You will break their budget to produce your book,  Cite your references when using them. When mailing your manuscript, include a self- addressed for a reply. Search Books in Print at the local library to determine if their are books similar to yours. Then read them to determine how your book is different. There are only so many books on ABCs, How is yours different ? Some editors ask this question. Do the research it takes to make the list into print.
